The sunshine has finally come out from the thick clouds for Lesetja Hendrick Lamola, a livestock farmer, who celebrated after securing a 700-hector (ha) farm lease from the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) through its Strategic Land Acquisition Programme.
The DALRRD had officially handed over the 30-year lease during the celebration that took place at Rosendal and Schaapkraal farm situated in Lephalale Municipality, Waterberg District on 30 June 2023.
A 34-year-old young farmer has applied for farm lease for many years with no success. Like many others, Lamola yet again, tried his luck following the farm lease advert in various platforms by the Department in February 2023. Little did he know that his dream to own farm has finally arrived.

Lesetja Lamola, displays the farm key with indication that his dream has finally kicked in.
Lamola has 123 cattle that now found home to a new 700-ha in Lephalale. The property is divided into three camps. Some of the infrastructure in the property includes - drinking troughs, a cattle kraal with a loading facility and neck clamp, goats and sheep kraals and several boreholes.
Additionally, there is a farmhouse, houses to his five permanent workers, three wooden cottages with ablution facilities, a storeroom, sheds, and a swimming pool. The property is game fenced. The veld is in a good condition and the farm has high potential for cattle and small stock production. Establishment of planted pastures will assist the farmer with feed supplement as well as increasing the carrying capacity of the farm.
Lamola was previously farming on communal land at Rosenkrantz village under Blouberg Municipality, thus where he drew his inspiration from his father who owned herd of cattle which financed his Information Technology studies.
