Graduation ceremony of students from Tompi Seleka College of Agriculture
Tompi Seleka has won an Agricultural Sector Education Training Authority (AgriSETA) excellence award in the category “Leading Public Service provider: Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges”. The award was in recognition for excellence in implementation of funded projects in contribution to the skills base to the Agricultural Sector.
The college has in the past year graduated over 200 Certificates in Agriculture (NQF 1-4) in Animal Production and Plant Production. Most of these graduates are current farmers, farm workers and research station farm aides who have experience which was assessed against this qualification in a process known as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). The college has also successfully concluded a 3-year bursary contract from which 10 academically deserving students from disadvantaged families have benefited and nine have graduated with one awaiting graduation in 2024. The college has also placed in 2022, 20 graduates in work placement and half of them secured employment while in and after the program demonstrating the quality of experience training by the college. In 2023, 40 graduates were placed and already more than eight have left for permanent employment.
The achievement has not come without challenges though as the college faces resource (finance, human and facilities) scarcity which hampers progress and productivity. The college prides itself with this achievement and it provides motivation for achievement of even bigger feats.

Tompi Seleka College of Agriculture prides itself with the achievement of having won AgriSETA service excellence awards.
