SESHEGO – The Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has reaffirmed its commitment to growing the provincial economy through support for local agro-processing enterprises.

This was during a Provincial Economic Growth Advisory Council (PEGAC) oversight visit to Kgarose an award-winning sweet potato yoghurt manufacturer owned by Mr Edward Kgarose.

The visit, led by the Advisor to the Premier on Agriculture, Mr Tobias Fourie, and hosted by PEGAC Champion and Head of Department, Ms Mpho Mashamba, assessed progress on the completion of the company’s new production facility in Seshego, Capricorn District.

The delegation engaged Kgarose on key areas critical for commercial growth, including food safety compliance, market expansion, production capacity, and interventions to address current operational challenges.

Speaking during the visit, Ms Mashamba emphasised the need to accelerate government support to enable PotaYoga to reach its full commercial potential.

"This enterprise has the potential to create sustainable jobs and supply both formal and informal markets. Our role is to remove the bottlenecks so that it can scale," she said.

The programme included guided tours of the production facilities in Seshego and Ladanna, showcasing the innovation behind the award-winning product.

The oversight visits underscores government’s commitment to supporting local agro-processors, unlocking economic opportunities, and building a resilient agricultural economy that benefits communities across Limpopo.
