Acting Head of Department for Agriculture and Rural Development in Limpopo, Mpho Mashamba, visited SENZI AVOMACS FARMING (Pty) Ltd, located in the Levubu Valley, to explore opportunities for growth and development. The farm operates on 580 hectares of prime agricultural land, with approximately 500 hectares available for cultivation and all hectares having registered water rights.
SENZI AVOMACS FARMING (Pty) Ltd has made significant strides in avocado and macadamia nut production, currently yielding 300t of avocados on 45 hectares and 112 tons of macadamia nuts on 55 hectares. With new plantings of 26 hectares, the farm is poised for expansion and increased production. Despite past financial challenges, the business is now generating healthy revenues and is well-positioned for sustainable growth.
The visit by the Acting HOD underscores the importance of supporting local agricultural initiatives and promoting economic development in rural areas. With a projected internal rate of return and return on investment exceeding expectations, SENZI AVOMACS FARMING (Pty) Ltd is an exemplary model of successful agricultural entrepreneurship. The cancellation of the long-term lease agreement with Unlimited Group marks a new chapter for the farm, and the department's support is crucial in unlocking its full potential.
