The Portfolio Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development from Limpopo Provincial Legislature has conducted an oversight visit to flood affected farms in Mookgophong area, Waterberg District on 12 February 2025.

The recent floods that wreak havoc certain parts of Limpopo have severely affected several farms including those visited as follows: Tsela Trading, SL & Sons as well as Baradipelo farms. Farm operations were affected including the infrastructure, and the productions.

These are due to change in weather conditions that often leads not only to devastating and disastrous events that disrupts farm operations but destroy the livelihoods of the farmers leading to food insecurity and huge economic setbacks.

The oversight visit by the Portfolio Committee led by the chairperson Cllr Bela Kupa, sought to intervene where possible with the aim to promote the livelihood of the farmers.

The condition of the road due to floods necessitated members of the Portfolio Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development accompanied by officials from Agriculture to use a tractor as the mode of transport to access certain parts of the project
