Limpopo Members Provincial legislature (MPL) and officials from Limpopo department of Agriculture and Rural development (LDARD) during an oversight visit of redline gates in Mopani District.

Portfolio Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development from Limpopo legislature took an important step to ensure that public resources are being effectively used and that vital infrastructure in rural areas is well-maintained. Portfolio Committee conducted an oversight visit at Makhuvha redline gate, Nsavulani redline gate, Muyexe redline gate, and Maninginisi redline gate in Mopani District.

By conducting an oversight visit to key redline gates in Mopani District, they’re aiming to ensure that the facilities and infrastructure are in good condition and that they meet the needs of both the public and the agricultural sector.

The crucial engagement with department officials took place on issues such as the Rabies disease outbreak. Animal diseases can pose significant risks to both human health and livestock, so it’s important that the committee understands the measures in place to prevent and control these outbreaks.

The presence of a veterinary team took them through the protocols for disease prevention and treatment, which was part of the critical insights provided to portfolio Committee members.

Redline gate at Muyexe in Mopani District was also visited by portfolio committee members on agriculture and officials from LDARD.
