MEC Nakedi Kekana encourages the newly appointed employees to develop ethical and capable developmental state

MEC Nakedi Kekana, who joined by the newly appointed Head of Department (HOD) Ms. Mpho Mashamba, have urged newly appointed employees to go beyond the call of duty.  About 112 newly appointed employees were officially welcomed to the Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (LDARD) during the induction held at Bolivia Lodge, Polokwane.

In her address, MEC Kekana said the recruitment meant to ensure young people, women and people with disability are not left behind. “We must make sure that the jobs are created, addressing reduction of cost of living, and develop ethical and capable developmental state by appointing the necessary skills needed by the sector to ensure that service delivery goes to the community”, Kekana said.

MEC appealed to new employees to always comply with the statute and policies that are informed by the Constitution of South Africa. She further urged them to render the services effectively and efficiently.   MEC sent a stern warning to new employees to refrain from all forms of corruption, or collusion, stating that consequence management will otherwise apply.

The event highlights government’s commitment to addressing unemployment, closing critical skills gaps, and positioning agriculture as a pillar of economic emancipation. It further highlights the work of the 7th administration in strengthening the department to achieve its mission and values of promoting economic development and sustainable growth.

Programmes that informed the induction were presented covering the daily operation of the department from Strategic Management as the roadmap of the department; Employee Relations; Health and Wellness that make the employee productive; management of leave and the condition of service; protecting information of the department in line with security; anti-corruption,
