The leadership of LDARD and Traditional Council celebrates another success story.

The MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Nakedi Kekana has officially handed over a tractor and tractor implement such as trailer and a boom spray to Matika Subtrop Farming at the Almighty Christian Church in Phiphidi Village.

Matika Subtrop Farming is a youth-owned 10 ha project located in Vondo Village. The project produces macadamia nuts, avocados, and litchis.

The tractor handover forms part of the Department’s mechanisation support programme, which assists farmers who have applied for machinery and equipment to improve their farming operations.

During the handover ceremony, Matika expressed gratitude to the department for its support in mechanisation and committed to improving his farming efforts.

Moved by the commitment, passion and dedication of the young Mr Khathutshelo Matika, VhoThovhele Midiyavhathu Kennedy Tshivhase, the Traditional leader pledged to allocate additional agricultural land to Matika to expand his farming activities.

MEC Kekana highlighted the importance of partnerships between the department and the private sector in ensuring that agricultural sector thrives. She also thanked Thovhele Tshivhase for his dedication to nurturing youth in his community and fostering agricultural development.
