MEC engage with staff from Toowoomba Research Station

The MEC of Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (LDARD) Thabo Mokone visited Toowoomba Research Station, Bela Bela in Waterberg District.

Toowoomba Research Station is part of LDARD operating as an Agricultural Development Centre. The station was established around 1930 and it was named after a town in Australia (because the founder was coming from Australia) where it was meant for pasture and crop research.

The visit was meant to engage with employees while identifying the needs in a quest to address them.

During briefing with the staff and the management of the station, the top runners committed themselves in working together with the MEC to improve the station. “My door is always open for everyone and do not hesitate to contact me if there are some of the things that you need assistance on”, said MEC.

The MEC together with the staff including the scientists and veterinary doctors, took a tour around some parts of the 1050 hectares (ha) farm where he was exposed to the crop field, kraals and stalls attached to the station. This is in addition to the preparation of how grass bale was made using specialised baler machine.

MEC vowed to come back and check on the progress following his official visit.
