The MEC for the Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Nakedi Kekana, has visited two Creches: Ntlaletse located at Strydkraal in Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality and Maloke at Ga-Masemola, Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality, both from Sekhukhune District, as part of the 2025 Back to School Crusade. She was later joined by Makhuduthamaga Mayor Cllr Merah Mahlase.
During her visit, MEC Kekana engaged with educators and community members to assess the status of the Creches and explored ways in a bid to provide agricultural support to Early Childhood Development Centres.
Kekana explained that agriculture is “our heritage that contributed much to our growth and well-being”. She emphasised the importance of bringing agriculture to the young ones which is equal to taking agriculture home since she said children are easy to imitate.
She emphasised the importance of nutrition in young children’s growth and highlighted the department’s commitment to food security initiatives in rural communities.
MEC together with Mayor have handed out production inputs to the creche to expand their production with assistance from extension officers.
