Black Frost in crops can be defined as a period in the life of a crop where the cells in the body of a crop / plant reaches a freezing point.

MEC Nakedi Kekana had on Friday, 19 July 2024, visited Blouberg Local Municipality, to monitor the effect of Black Frost and engage with farmers who are severely affected by the scourge in the province.

As a result of climate change and global warming, the province is not excluded from experiencing extreme weather phenomenon that more often leads to devastating disastrous events. This unfavourable weather currently disrupted locally on-farm operations and destroyed the livelihoods of the farmers.
