The Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (LDARD) MEC Nakedi Kekana, attended the Agribusiness session of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) 2025in Algeria, a continental platform designed to drive trade, investment, and economic integration across Africa.
The session placed sharp focus on the theme “Building Food Security & Moving up the Value Chain”, a priority area for South Africa and the broader African continent.
MEC Kekana’s participation underscores Limpopo’s strategic role as an agricultural hub with immense potential in food production, agro-processing, and cross-border trade. She engaged with leaders, policymakers, and industry players on practical ways to strengthen food systems, enhance intra-African trade in agricultural products, and ensure that smallholder farmers and agri-entrepreneurs move beyond primary production into value addition and export markets.
By attending this session, MEC Kekana reaffirmed LDARD’s commitment to supporting farmers, promoting agro-industrialisation, and contributing to both provincial food security and Africa’s broader agenda of self-sufficiency, job creation, and sustainable growth.
