Madzivhandila College of Agriculture in Limpopo Province in collaboration with Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) and Association of Principals of Agricultural Colleges (APAC) hosted the 2025 National Agricultural Colleges Choral Competition (NACCC) at Vhembe TVET College’s Shingwezi Campus, Malamulele.
Seven Colleges of Agriculture from across the country have participated in the workshop and musical competition included Madzivhandila as the host, namely: CEDARA, Tompi Seleka, Owen Sithole, Tsolo, Groot Fontein, and Fort Cox. The competition is hosted by each college on a rotational basis.
The three-day musical event from 8 – 10 July 2025, meant to unearth and showcase the talent in the heart of National Agricultural Institutions of Higher Learning. Hundreds of choral music revellers have descended to Malamulele, where the event was held, to celebrate indigenous knowledge, unity in diversity and social cohesion.
Performers delivered their unique sounds under various categories from solo, duet and indigenous, among others. Outstanding performances were witnessed from participating colleges, with CEDARA and Tompi Seleka emerging as top contenders in multiple categories. Notable winners include:
- Solo Soprano – CEDARA took the top spot with 83%, followed closely by Tompi Seleka A and B with 80% and 79%, respectively.
- Solo Tenor: OSCA claimed the top spot with 85%, with Grootfontein and Tompi Seleka following closely.
- Overall NACC Shield: CEDARA emerged victorious with 461 points, followed by Tsolo with 456 points, and OSCA with 442 points.
- Overall Championship Shield: Tompi Seleka took the top spot with 481 points, followed by Grootfontein with 466 points.
Category Winners
- African Piece (Open Field): CEDARA took the top spot with 88%, followed by Tsolo with 87% and OSCA with 86%.
- Indigenous Category: Madzivhandila emerged victorious with 78%, followed by CEDARA and OSCA.
- NACC Shield Afrikaans: Tsolo took the top spot with 83% followed by OSCA and CEDARA.
- NACC Shield Western: Tsolo emerged victorious with 82% followed by Fort Cox and OSCA.
All these activities find expression through music, which is always viewed as arts, a universal language, that unite people from all walks of life.
