Madzivhandila College of Agriculture students have graduated on the 18 March 2022 at the college hall. Forty-seven (47) students received National Diplomas in Animal Production, whereas twelve others acquired National Diplomas in Plant Production.
Professor Jude Odhiambo from the University of Venda encouraged the graduates to put what they have learnt into practice. He said they should view agriculture as a business with the potential of eliminating hunger and creating employment.
“Your journey of becoming a practising Agriculturalist has just begun. It may not be easy, but it is possible. You have been empowered and capacitated to make it in this industry,” said Odhiambo whilst also encouraging the graduates to further their studies to advance their knowledge and skills in their journey.
Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (LDARD) Research and Colleges Chief Director, Lucy Seabi applauded the college staff and the students. “It is during this time of our academic year where we not only rejoice but acknowledge the tenacity and determination it took for you to achieve this remarkable milestone. You make us proud,” continued Seabi.
LDARD Musina Municipality Agricultural Advisor and former student at the college, Jeremiah Murovhi advised the graduates to be more focused. He said they should pursue their goals and should not allow any obstacle to stand on their way.
LDARD HoD, Jaqueline Maisela said, “As we congratulate the graduates, we also thank the college management and staff who worked under duress, considering budget cut and other academic constrains. We can’t leave parents aside, who throughout the process have supported the graduates financially, academically, spiritually, and otherwise.” Indicated Maisela.
She urged the 59 graduates to believe in themselves and amongst others, become food producers and job creators.
Nndavheleseni Ramabulana and Khumbelo Magadagela were awarded trophies for being top students in Animal Production and Plant Production respectively. Ramabulana went on to achieve the Best Overall Performing student Award.
In an interview with Temo News, Ramabulana appreciated the dedicated college personnel for the achievement.
