The Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (LDARD) in Mopani District in partnership with Agricultural Research Council (ARC) held four days livestock capacity building in the three Agro-ecological zones (AEZ), namely Mopani East, West and North.
The platform presented farmers with insightful ideas in relation to livestock production with the aim to increase production, profit, and address livelihood.
Presentations focused on key aspects including small stock selection and breeding, the impact of conservation of indigenous sheep and goats and animals’ genetic resources. This is in addition to animal husbandry, modern practices, and innovations in livestock farming, understanding of marketing, customer needs, and how to create value to attract and retain customers.
Tswarelo Masutha, a farmer who expressed the appreciation of the district for hosting such an educational program, and wished to see farmers day of this nature onwards.
