LDARD intensifies efforts to combat rabies through a massive awareness and sterilisation campaign.

The Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (LDARD) has intensified efforts to combat rabies through a massive awareness and sterilisation campaign in all districts.

Spearheaded by Veterinary Services, the campaign supports the “Zero by 30” initiative, which seeks to eliminate human deaths from dog-mediated rabies by 2030.

The campaign promotes a One Health approach, recognising the link between human, animal and environmental health.

Residents received vital information on animal vaccination, immediate wound care and seeking medical attention after exposure. Veterinary Services also provided vaccination, deworming, dipping and sterilisation of dogs and cats.

The initiative spearheaded by Veterinary Services seeks to eliminate human deaths from dog-mediated rabies by 2030.
