Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (LDARD) has taken part in The Capricorn District Environmental Career Exhibition Seminar, which was held at Kgagatlou Secondary School.
Learners currently in grade nine were the main beneficiaries from the programme since their navigation towards their respective career choice began right at the Seminar.
Various departments including the Department of Correctional Service, Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, and Department of Justice and Constitutional Development were among the exhibitors.
According to the host, the Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, the Seminar, which was officially initiated in 2023, is an ongoing initiative which seeks to empower high schools’ learners within Capricorn District. The move was further intended to guide the learners on what subject choices they can make to be able to reach their desired goals in higher education and ultimately in the job market to be employable.
This life changing exposure gave learners the opportunity to compete by creating environmental related projects with focus on waste management, tree planting and water utilisation. The top performing schools that came up with best practices received R50 000, R30 000 and R20 000. It went to Segopotsi, Mammoka and Monyong Secondary Schools respectively. The remaining secondary schools were given 36-wheel bins to be distributed evenly among themselves as a token of appreciation for their participation.
