A driver operator stationed at Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (LDARD) Capricorn District under Land Care and Land Use Management was among the winners of the Provincial Driver of the Year competition 2023/24.
Thopane Philemon Rachuene scooped third position in the competition against 12 drivers in the category of light delivery vehicle.
The competition, which was initiated by the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety (LDTCS) marking the Transport Month, was held at Bolivia Lodge from 25-27 October 2024.
Rachuene was awarded during the gala-dinner with incentives including a trophy, travel bag, branded merchandise from stakeholders and a cheque worth R 5 000.00.
The initiative meant to honour and recognise the best drivers and further promote safe driving on the roads during this Transport Month.
Rachuene was featured on Thobela FM on Sunday, 27 October 2024, reflecting on the importance of safe driving especially as festive season begins.
