The Capricorn District Stakeholder Engagement was successfully held at the Jack Botes Hall in Polokwane, bringing together government leadership, traditional authorities and key sector stakeholders under one roof to deliberate on agricultural development and rural advancement within the district.

The engagement was led by MEC Nakedi Grace Kekana of the Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Among those in attendance were the Head of Department Ms Mpho Abigail Mashamba, Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee for Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Bella Kupa Mabuza, MPL, Acting Mayor MMC for Energy, Councillor Nomonde Sivhambu, Chairperson of Roads, Storm Water and Transportation, Councillor Mmatlala Pheedi; as well as Kgoši Seakamela and Kgoši Dikgale.

The programme created a structured platform for strategic reflections on departmental priorities, service delivery challenges and collaborative interventions required to strengthen agricultural support systems. Presentations focused on key departmental performance areas, water licensing matters and the importance of coordinated planning across spheres of government.

Such stakeholder engagements remain critical in fostering transparency, accountability and inclusive governance. They enable government and stakeholders to align on shared objectives, exchange practical insights and collectively respond to challenges affecting farmers and rural communities. By strengthening partnerships, these platforms enhance coordinated implementation and improve the impact of programmes on the ground.

Delivering the keynote address, MEC Kekana reaffirmed the Department’s commitment to sustainable agriculture, rural development and responsive service delivery. She emphasised the importance of collaboration, innovation and strengthened stakeholder relations in driving inclusive growth and ensuring that agricultural initiatives translate into tangible benefits for communities across the Capricorn District.

Kgoši Seakamela gives words of support on behalf of the Traditional leaders.
