Employees from Head Office listen attentively to leadership.
Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (LDARD) MEC Basikopo Makamu has taken the department’s leadership directly to employees and communities through a week-long series of Meet and Greet Sessions held across the province’s districts.
Accompanied by Head of Department Mpho Mashamba and members of Top Management, MEC Makamu engaged officials at Head Office and across all districts, with the sessions aimed at strengthening working relations, promoting teamwork and building a shared commitment to effective service delivery.
Addressing officials, Makamu stressed that leadership support must ultimately translate into meaningful improvements for communities and farmers.
“I am here to support you so you can stretch that support way down to communities and farmers,” said Makamu.
He called on officials to remain committed to their responsibilities and ensure that departmental programmes, resources and services reach the farmers who need them most.
The engagements also extended beyond the traditional Meet and Greet format, with the MEC conducting oversight visits to agricultural projects located near the venues of the sessions. These visits provided an opportunity to assess progress, engage directly with farmers and gain first-hand insight into challenges affecting agricultural production.
Makamu emphasised that his office must remain connected to the realities on the ground, particularly the needs of farmers and rural communities.
The week-long engagements formed part of the MEC’s efforts to understand operational challenges, strengthen internal collaboration and promote a responsive, accountable and farmer-focused department committed to advancing agriculture and rural development across Limpopo.
