As we celebrate the achievements of women and girls in our communities, it is essential to recognize the tireless efforts of individuals who have dedicated their lives to promoting women health issues such as menstrual health awareness and empowerment. One such individual is Dr. Mashela Mogaila Mokgabudi, a renowned entrepreneur, researcher, and advocate for menstrual health.

Dr. Mogaila Mokgabudi's journey began in a low-income community where she experienced firsthand, the challenges of accessing sanitary products during her teen and adolescence stages. This personal struggle sparked a passion within her to create a solution that would ensure no girl or woman would face the same difficulties in future. With a strong academic background in health science and research, including a PhD in Pharmacokinetics, Dr. Mogaila Mokgabudi is equipped with the expertise to develop innovative menstrual health products.

In 2009, Dr. Mogaila Mokgabudi founded GentiShe, a pioneering brand providing eco-friendly menstrual products. Through GentiShe, she aims to empower communities by promoting menstrual health education, economic independence, and environmental sustainability. Her tireless efforts have made a significant impact, improved the lives of countless individuals, and inspired a new generation of leaders in menstrual health advocacy.

Dr. Mogaila Mokgabudi's outstanding contributions to menstrual health and entrepreneurship have been recognized through numerous awards and accolades. Some of her notable awards include the Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Africa's Most Influential Women in Business and Government, and the Menstrual Health Champion Award.

Currently, she is leading the "Period Positivity at Workplace" campaign, aimed at promoting menstrual health awareness and providing period-friendly products to female employees in top companies. The campaign seeks to break the stigma surrounding menstruation, increase comfort and productivity, and support employee well-being.

Dr. Mogaila Mokgabudi's initiative also aims to empower women-owned businesses in South Africa by providing value chain opportunities. Her vision is to realize 12 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals through her initiatives.

In addition to her work in menstrual health advocacy, she is also passionate about promoting agricultural activities as a means of empowering women and girls. Her innovative approach to agroprocessing, which involves making sanitary towels out of banana stems, is a shining example of the impact that women can have in driving innovation and economic growth in rural communities.

Dr. Mogaila Mokgabudi's commitment to empowering women and girls through agricultural activities is evident in her work with rural communities. She has established several initiatives aimed at promoting agricultural entrepreneurship among women, including training programs, mentorship schemes, and access to finance.
