On the 21st of November 2023, the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development through its Deeds office in Limpopo held a brief and concise ceremony in celebration of milestone achieved by going fully digital, an initiative aimed at eradicating and transforming the organisation from paper-based system to the digitalization of documents an initiative called Digi-Deeds.

A celebration of paperless initiative
Digi-Deeds is a centralised system, an initiative which started in 2019 that aimed at moving from the paper-based method to the digitalization of documents making it easier for other departments and stakeholders to access the information online. The transformation process will be fully operational by December 2025.
To date, a total of 72 000 documents have been scanned into the system since the transformation process started. Attended by the newly appointed Chief Registrar of Deeds in Limpopo Mr Matsobane Motlhasedi and other numerous senior officials from different provinces within the Deeds Registry offices in the country, the event proceeded smoothly and quickly turned into an award ceremony where numerous awards were presented including the award for Best Paper Scanner.
In his motivation to staff members to work hard and embrace change, Motlhasedi said, “change is here, change is consistent and the whole office has to adapt to change”.
