The office of the Registrar of Deeds (under The Registrar: Matsobane Motlhasedi) and Land Development under the umbrella of The Department of Land Reform and Rural Development has embarked on a roadshow to enlighten farmers regarding the property registration as well as operations of the Office of the Deeds and Tenure Reform Implementation (TRI). The capacity building session was held at Offices of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Groblersdal.
Madila Nakeng from the Deeds Registry office has unpacked the processes, duties and functions of the Registrar of Deeds as contemplated and provided in terms of section 3 of Deeds Registries Act 47 of 1937 and accentuated more on the Estate matters. He made assertion to farmers to understand the importance of farming on a legally registered land, with title deed, leases, and bonds.
Chuene Mojela of the Deeds Registry Limpopo, advised farmers on the safe keeping of the title deed, processes and procedures of eviction orders, and procedures of selling land or property. Chuene cautioned farmers to refrain from using affidavits obtaining from South African Police Service when transferring land or property for ownership, but rather use services of conveyancers.
From the TRI Unit, Shotheli Mashudu advised farmers whose parents bought land and died without changing the names on their tittle deed to those of their descendants to come forward and apply for land tittle adjustment at no cost.
