In two Landcare events that were held recently at Makwarani Primary School and Gidjamandeni sport grounds respectively in Vhembe District, community members were appealed to restrain from environmental degradation practices such as chopping trees, causing veld fires and poor veld management.
Thivhavhudzi Nekhavhambe Deputy Director responsible for LandCare and Land use Management made the community aware that the Land Care program remains a backbone that enhance a sustainable conservation of natural resources yesterday, today and forever. She urged the community to take responsibility for ownership to protect natural resources that will sustain agriculture and food production.

Land care focus areas that need protection are soil care, water care, veld care, junior care in school and out of school as well as conservation agriculture.
Control Agricultural Resource Technician, Netshivhodza Humbulani from Landcare and Land use Management Vhembe Central Agro-Ecological zone said that regulations are in place for the protection of land.
