This year’s conference focuses on transforming extension services for climate resilience, food security, and job creation.
Clean administration is vital, but it must deliver tangible results for farmers on the ground. This was the key message from District Director Mafora Harry Maboa at the 15th Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Sekhukhune District Conference, hosted at Forever Resorts Blyde Canyon.
Gathering industry experts, commercial farmers, researchers, and scientists, this year’s conference focused on transforming extension services for climate resilience, food security, and job creation.
Delivering the keynote address, Maboa celebrated the district’s landmark clean audit, attributing the achievement to years of teamwork, compliance, and rigorous financial management. However, he cautioned that financial compliance is not the end goal.
"A clean audit must translate into improved service delivery and measurable socio-economic impact for smallholder and commercial farmers," Maboa emphasized.
He urged extension practitioners to maintain high professional standards by accurately documenting farmer support, keeping verifiable performance data, and using public resources effectively.
Maboa concluded that discipline and accountability are essential to safeguarding this administrative milestone while driving inclusive agricultural growth across the Sekhukhune district.
