MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development Me Nakedi Kekana and MEC for Limpopo Department of Education Me Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya had a bilateral meeting on Monday, 21 October 2024, focused on establishing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing and supporting Agricultural Focused Schools across the province.

The dialogue highlighted the critical support provided to the eight (8) existing Agricultural Schools, including the allocation of 17 Agricultural Sciences graduates to these institutions. This collaboration underscores the importance of integrating agriculture into education to cultivate a skilled workforce that meets the demands of the agricultural sector.

By working together, both MECs recognised that they can create a cohesive strategy that aligns educational initiatives with agricultural development goals. This integrated approach is vital for ensuring that resources are utilised effectively, fostering a culture of collaboration that ultimately enhances service delivery in the 7th administration.

Both political Principals directed technocrats from their respective departments to develop a comprehensive roadmap that outlines the specific goals and actions required to implement the MoU once signed. This roadmap will facilitate the establishment of strategic partnerships that can enhance the educational infrastructure and support systems for Agricultural Focused Schools.
