Waterberg District: Limpopo Premier officially launched COVID-19 mass screening campaign at Marapong Clinic, Lephalale Local Municipality, on 14 April 2020. This follows the call by the President to mass screening testing. The screen testing programme involves multi-disciplinary health practitioners ranging from health promotion officers, care groups, community health workers, home-based care givers among others.
Ten households per day are expected to be visited by volunteers over nine days effective from 14 to 24 April 2020. All districts in the province are expected to be covered by the 24 April 2020. In his launch, Premier said, “Ours is a mission that is fuelled by the zeal and determination to win. I want to say to all forces out there that please be fuelled, be motivated, gain high morale and high discipline because the fight that we are fighting is the noble one.
The fight that we are fighting can never be lost. We can’t afford to lose this war. Because the luxury of losing this war is the grave. Once we allow ourselves to lose this war means we must all die, so we can’t afford to do that. “We need to be fuelled, to be motivated and feel good about what we are doing now. Because it is the best for the humanity of doing what we are doing. That is why I want to say to all those volunteers, all those health workers, all those who are helping us with the battle and the strategy we are using now, please never event relent because we are on the right course doing the right thing. You are doing the most just and morally or ethically the correct thing to do – saving lives. We are going out there to step up this battle and put it to another level to convince our people on the ground. We got all the forces and equipment that we need to fight this battle and will win it”. Following the launch, MECs were deployed to their respective households around Marapong and Ga-Seleka for screening.
